  • 1st/2nd Year Apprentices

Theory:

  • Advanced cutting techniques
  • Fashion & Trends in haircutting
  • Personalizing and finishing techniques
  • Suitability related to bone structure

Practical:

  • One-length, graduated and layered cutting techniques
  • Vertical, diagonal and horizontal weight distribution
  • "Free hand" cutting and razor techniques
  • Work with disconnection
  • Section angles for a desired effect
  • Asymmetrical hair cutting
  • Cutting dry hair
  • Learn finishes with a round brush, flat iron, curling iron and right finishing product selection

Perform 2 haircuts per day on mannequin head

Duration:

  • 1 day, 3 hours on Mondays

Cost:

  • $150/student. Includes mannequin and necessary supplies
  • Group classes can be done at your salon with a $50 student discount for three or more stylists from one salon

Teaches new trends and looks for Weddings and Special events!

You will learn to create a soft, modern, fast “red carpet” up-do and to create a shape that suits each client’s. Face and look.

  • Principles of cutting: areas of the head, lines and angles, cutting lines and over directions
  • Men’s specific design and face shape
  • Hair cutting tools
  • Clippers and trimmers
  • Additional grooming :eyebrow, ear and neck trimming

Practical:

  • Blending with clippers and shears
  • Trimming
  • Texturizing
  • Shaping hair lines
  • Using the razor techniques
  • Identifying head shapes and face shapes

5. Advanced Hair Course: Corrective Color Hands-on Workshop

Pre-requisite:

  • 1st/2nd Year Apprentices

Theory:

  • Review of color wheel
  • Complimentary vs. neutralizing colors
  • Underlying pigments, how to achieve a proper level
  • Toners, when to use them and how to make them longer lasting
  • Shampoo cocktails, how to mix and use
  • Grey hair coverage
  • Fillers, why, when, and how to use
  • Reds, why do they fade and how to lock in the color
  • Lifting for brunettes
  • Brassy blondes, how to eliminate the most common complaint
  • Color too light vs. color too dark
  • Tinting back to neutral color
  • Develop a "colorist's eye"  for subtle tones and color combinations

Practical:

  • 40% Theory and 60% Practical
  • Stylist could do hands on correction on mannequins head utilizing the knowledge and expertise gained during the first day of theory.
